Utilizing Shakespeare and his wife, Hathaway, as narrators in the play itself though, Broadway's brand-new musical, & Juliet, tweaks the previous story by allowing Juliet to discover what life has to offer after Romeo's suicide and empowering her to finally make her own decisions. Opting to begin again with her equally-committed companions, the cast is launched into a new world beyond what Juliet and her friends were used to when they arrive in France.

The Swedish songwriter and producer already had a goal of immortalizing his songs through theater as well, which prompted the jukebox musical, & Juliet, being produced and later on debuting in the year 2019. Martin was completely selfless in the manipulation of his hits to the production, saying that he “hoped to revive his songs over the years in a new way, and to have fans feel that even if you have never heard any of my songs, you should enjoy his music just as much.” The ongoing musical now has the hits from global singers including Jessie J, Ke$ha, P!nk, and Justin Timberlake, among others. Due to its modern score, the musical enabled a new way to appeal to a new fanbase to West End.
